Friday, October 23rd Meeting--In-person social

Good evening, everyone,

We won't be having our regular morning meeting tomorrow, but will again be having a social at Sherry Sime's house located at 517 South Ramsey Street around her fire pit on her patio. Bring your own chair and beverage and practice COVID suggestions. We'll start gathering around 4 and party until Sherry kicks us out. Thanks for hosting, Sherry!

A couple of things to mention for tomorrow evening:
  • A couple of Interact students will be coming with Julie to to talk about their projects and sell raffle tickets—proceeds to go to the local food shelf.  And, if you would like to donate gloves and/or hand warmers for the homelessness project feel free to bring those Friday. 20 tickets for $20. Caledonians buying tickets will be entered for Caledonia community prizes as well as the prizes from the LaCrosse area! The goal for the Caledonia Interact group is to sell 100 wingspans (20 tickets) of tickets. This is in lieu of the funds they would have earned from Moon Tunes.
  • Care and Share may not be accepting donations of gifts this year and may instead be giving gift cards to parents to purchase presents for their children. We've typically used money collected from Happy Dollars for a couple of weeks to donate towards this as well as the money in our budget. We've not collected Happy Dollars since we last met in August, so that's at least 11 weeks to catch up on if you feel inclined to bring money tomorrow. Arien will happily accept this as well as dues!
  • October 24th is Polio Eradication Day, and District 6250 has set a goal of collecting $35 from 1000 members in our district during the month of October to go towards Polio Plus. If you would like to make your pledge early, you can bring that money as well. Let's load Arien down with cash!
Next Friday, October 30th, we'll be having an in-person meeting at the Houston County Historical Society at the Fairgrounds. Janene Hosch will be speaking to us about the Underground Railroad. There will be a board meeting after the regular meeting.

Finally, a huge shout-out and thank you to all of those who helped on Rotary Rose Day (maybe that should be an official city holiday?) especially Naomi and Arien for organizing, ordering and managing the sale. Sherry and Mary, thank you for helping with unloading, delivering and handing them out as people came to collect their bouquets. And, thank you to all those who sold! It was a great year of sales, and it's heartening to know that we'll be able to do some good, especially in what has turned out to be a not-so-good year. You all make me truly appreciate this place I call home.

Yours in Rotary,
Ashley
