Hello:
Deck the halls. . .oops, I mean the gazebo and Rotary tree at North Park. Thanks to Sherry for helping decorate the gazebo and the tree. It's worth a walk by to check both.
Our club has a few things to do this month. The Rotary Lights truck will be in the Caledonia parade on Friday, December 6. Dan, Julie, Mary and I will walk with the truck to hand out candy canes. I have lighted necklaces for each of us to wear for the occasion. The parade begins at 7 pm.
We will receive the Rotary Lights food donations for our local Food Shelf on Wednesday, Dec. 18, and Tuesday, Dec 31. We will need volunteers to unload the food the next mornings. Three or 4 workers are probably enough since there isn't much space to unload. Thanks to Randy for hauling the food and to Dennis Gavin (Caledonia Haulers) for use of the trailer.
Our club will be in charge of the S'Mores Pit on Saturday, Dec. 28 from 7:15 to 9 pm. We need 4 or 5 volunteers. I'll have a sign up sheet for unloading food and S'Mores Pit at our December club meetings.
Club Runner is updating with "Club Runner Nova". It will be released as an optional update to all clubs in the coming months. It will become the permanent version for the 2025-26 year. There will be an informational webinar on Thursday, December 5, at 7 pm. This is not a tutorial but a preview of the future of Club Runner. Zoom address is:

Programs for December: (courtesy of Dan Small)
Dan Small will talk on December 6 on the work of Robert Moses in NY. He built most of the major highways and bridges as well as the UN, Lincoln center, schools, housing projects, parks, and the 1939 and 1964 World Fairs in Flushing Meadows. There is an interesting twist in the story which I only learned of after reading Robert Caro's Pulitzer prize winning book The Power Broker, that I will reveal at the end of the talk.
December 13, Dr. Evan Small will talk about Emergency Medicine.
