February 2024
Our Rotary year is over the half-way mark and we need to look at what we have accomplished so far. We met a few of our goals and are working on many more. We planned to continue some projects and add some new ones. We maintained the gazebo garden last summer and will continue this spring, we worked at Rotary Lights, donated scholarships, and supported the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. We are currently making plans for Neighbors' Day which we will hold on April 19 in Caledonia. We plan to invite other community groups to join us in this project with a social time to follow.
One of our new projects this past summer was the Helping Hands Backpack Program where we partnered with local churches and social service agencies. We also welcomed new teachers to our school district with a card, gift certificate, and a ticket for a dozen roses from our rose sale. We donated to the Nicaragua water project as an international project.
We have rearranged our meeting room to encourage a friendly social atmosphere. Our committees have been productive. We joined Caledonia Chamber of Commerce to improve our ability to assess community needs. Weekly meeting programs about peace and mental health are planned. And we aren't done yet.
I am proud of the things our members have done so far this year. We're on a roll. Join us if you are interested in our community service projects.
